If you’ve used photoshop or a CAD program you start to get a feel for how creative tool programs orient themselves typically, and FL aligns with those kind of things in button placement and structuring. And how everything has a few tabs at the top and what not.

It’s got the best looking interface, the most familiar as far as programs go in relation to where, roughy, you’d find certain things like settings. Im and fl user but ive played around in ableton with the thoughts of switching and theres things that I really like about both of them, As far as the UI and workflow goes im more used to fl and I enjoy how open it is as compared to ableton where I feel kinda cramped with everything being on the same screen but this is really just personal preference, as far as plugins go I feel like fl has better synths (sytrus, harmor) but ableton is far better equipped when it comes to effects plugins especially the basics(eq,compressor, gate etc.), Fl has one of the best piano rolls of any daw and imo is better than abletons in almost every way, But then on the other hand I feel like abletons approach to automation is better than fl, and another good point to bring up is if your using a daw like ableton converting to something like pro tools wouldnt be too steep of a learning curve but if your using fl and its all you know going into a daw like pro tools would be extremely weird because as far as functionality goes fl is pretty one of a kind using a pattern block system whereas something like ableton uses the more conventional track based approach that pretty much every other daw except fl uses, there both great and they can both create pretty much anything you could ever think of, but even though im a hardcore fl user I have to give it to ableton, if i knew somebody who was just starting and they asked me what to get I would recomend ableton for all the reasons listed above and more, I know this was kind of a long winded answer but I hope it helps anyone who makes it all the way through itįL STUDIO - is the Apple product of daws.
